Lyn-Bar Great Danes was established in 1978 when Lynda, at age 13, was given her first Great Dane by her parents. The plan was he would be a companion dog, but somewhere along the way Lynda and Barbara got "hooked" on showing. Lynda did the training and showing, both in Conformation and Junior Showmanship. The result was Ch. Galaxy's Moon Magic.
Since that time, we have continued in this endeavor with Lynda doing the handling and Barb more or less raising the litters. We have many conformation champions and several with obedience titles. Our top accomplishment is BISS Ch. Lyn-Bar's Sundae Rrryon, CGC. Rrryon finished her championship on her second birthday (February 14, 1993) with a five-point major at Illini Great Dane Club's Specialty. This win completed her championship in less than 2 months of showing. She began her specials career immediately by winning Best of Breed at her first outing, Great Dane Club of Milwaukee. The rest, as they say, is history. The pinnacle of her career was winning the Great Dane Club of America's most coveted award: The Top Twenty Competition in 1994 at the National Specialty in Kansas City.
When Rrryon retired, we were fortunate enough to have another beautiful bitch ready to be specialed, BISS Ch. Lyn-Bar's Pretty Woman, CGC. Abbie also earned a spot in the 1996 Great Dane Club of America Top Twenty Competition.
Recently, a new goal was accomplished: A Puppy Champion! Ch. Lyn-Bar's Red Hot Schnapps finished from the puppy class with 4 major wins at the age of 10 ½ months. He was undefeated in his puppy classes and has now earned 3 Best of Breeds.
Over the years we have taken pride in our dogs but especially in the fact that we have never compromised our ethics and have attempted to pay particular attention to health and temperament issues in our breeding program. |
